I haven't manged to get this kind of video of river otters yet but it was a treat to capture this Heron walking across the otter rock in the Gorge. I've seen Great Blue Herons on nearly every river I've visited. They are also a common sight along our city lakes and Puget Sound shoreline. They seem to be everywhere so it is easy to feel they are common place but they, like many of our northwest species, rely on a healthy environment in order to thrive.
The Green River Gorge provides a healthy remote habitat for the Heron and other species to live fairly isolated considering how close it is to the developed urban landscape.
